【爱米莉•鲍尔奇小型研讨班】布林茅学院学生的一年级学习以密集紧张的、多种跨学科课程的广泛学习为特色，其中爱米莉•鲍尔奇小型研讨班是这一理念的核心。布林茅学院的一年级生小型研讨班以布林茅学院1889级的推进全球范围内女权运动发展的诺贝尔和平奖获得者爱米莉•鲍尔奇命名。该小型研讨班面向布林茅学院一年级学生，由各学科领域的出色学者/教师从跨学科视角教授。研讨班以学生间活跃的讨论为主，而不是老师讲授。通过密集的阅读和写作，鲍尔奇小型研讨班带领学生从多种视角探索各式复杂话题。
【大二计划】在适应了过山车式的大学一年级生活后，学生需要在其大二停一停，自我评估和反思，去思考和决定之后的大学生活规划。通过小型分享会(workshop)、一对一建议辅导(advising)以及自我反思(self-reflection)，学生选择一门专业，思考如何完成学院统一要求(college-wide requirements)，并计划大三学年的海外学习(若选择此项的话)、社区体验式学习(experimental learning)以及职业道路探索(career exploration)。这整一过程都是从全局角度和自我引导角度出发计划的(holistic & self-directed)。在大二计划阶段中你需要完成：
(1) 计划好如何完成学院统一要求
何时：秋季学期
做什么：所有大二学生必须在秋季学期开始时和其院长(dean)会面讨论其大二一年打算，院长批准通过其完成学院统一要求的计划。
怎么做：秋季学期开始时留意来自院长办公室的邮件，里面指示你接下来采取哪些步骤。在你预约院长办公室之前，在BiONiC学生中心填写完电子版的学院统一要求完成计划以及初步反思表(preliminary reflection worksheet)，将它们打印出来，填写完成并在与院长会面时带过去。
(2) 选择专业——与你的专业建议师会面(major advisor)
(3) 起草简历
何时：11月
做什么：起草你的1页简历并上传至LanternLink(可通过BiONiC学生中心进入)。这会帮助你理清截至现阶段你的校园经历以及表达你的职业目标(co-curricular goal)
谁：当你上传完你的简历后，一位LILAC的工作人员会联系你并给出他的看法和建议。如果你不知道如何开始或者你需要指导来完成你的简历，通过LanternLink与职业顾问(Career Counselor)约会面或者参加CPD walk-in hours
(4) 完成一篇简短的大二反思(Sophomore Reflection)
何时：3月
做什么：学生需要完成一篇300-500词的大二反思上传至BiONiC学生中心，想想他们现处哪个阶段，以及未来希望在布林茅达成的目标是什么。
谁：院长(Deans)会批阅你的大二反思，专业建议指导老师也会阅读你的反思作为专业指导谈话的基础，LILAC的工作人员也会以你的反思作为职业规划谈话的基础。
【特别的语言学习机会】俄语：Russian language institute成立于1977年，致力于在美国内为俄语学习者和老师提供身临其境般的俄语学习环境。(intensive-immersion)法语：在布林茅学院的资助下，Avignon Institute提供为期6周的围绕法国文化为主题的暑期项目。
【研究机会】布林茅学院通过提供研究方法(methodology)课程和毕业研究(senior thesis)项目机会来培养学生的研究能力。其他的学生研究机会还包括辅导教师实验室研究、接受夏季助学金(fellowship)去开展一个独立的研究项目。这些本科生研究过程都必须有导师指导。
